Modified's Top Picks for the Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge

We're revving up for the Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge here at Modified Mag. Not wanting to disappoint loyal fans and readers, we're on the hunt for the ultimate and most extreme street driven machine. Not just any high horsepower, caged vehicle will do. Sure, horsepower plays a big role but we need useable power and reliability. Forget strung out, at the limit platforms, we want a solid engine and a great chassis to work with it.
That's why we are leaning towards an AWD platform. A RWD car can be very capable but also demanding at the limit, one miscue of the throttle and you'll be spinning out like a merry go round. FWD is also not a bad platform either but it better be set up impeccably otherwise we don't stand a chance.
Remember, we've got some serious European cars to battle as well as some pesky Mustangs that think they'll dominate which we cannot let happen. With AWD we bring unbeatable launches at the drag strip and awesome track prowess, what's really not to like.

Just because AWD seems to be our heavy favorite doesn't mean we won't consider FWD or RWD. Whoever we end up picking you'll be damn sure that the car is built right since we'll be putting it through the ringer in some of the most grueling tests a vehicle can endure.
