Mustang 5.0's Top Pick for the Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge
After weeks of deliberating over and evaluating entries submitted by Mustang owners from all over the United States, we've finally selected a 'Stangbanger and his pride-and-joy, to represent 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords in the Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge.
The Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge is a head-to-head "shootout" of sorts that will pit our entry, Ron Cooper's 1994 Mustang Cobra that you see in the pictures, against cars selected by the editors of Eurotuner, Import Tuner, Honda Tuning, Modified, Lowrider and Super Street magazines.
Contestants and their rides will be scored on lap time (around a road course); quarter-mile e.t. and mph; rear-, front-, or all-wheel-drive horsepower; power-to-weight; acceleration and braking; endurance; vehicle cost and even emissions.
We can't give you too much of a breakdown on Ron's '94 Snake here, because the competition may be lurking and we don't want to give them any details on the ride that we believe is gonna win it all. All we can state is the obvious. Ron's 'Stang is pushrod powered. That's right, a Johnsonesque 5.0-Liter engine sits between the fenders of our Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge Cobra, not a 4.6 Liter modular.
We'll see how things shake out when we get to the Challenge. Ron is prepping the car now, and we know he'll be ready to show-and-prove, and represent our mag to the fullest!
