2010 Castrol SYNTEC Top Car...
First place or nothing!
5.0 Mustang's Top Picks for the Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge

The Castrol SYNTEC Top Car Challenge is a hard-core endurance test sponsored by Castrol SYNTEC, which pits vehicles selected by the editors of 5.0, Eurotuner, Import Tuner, Honda Tuning, Modified, Lowrider and Super Street magazines, in a head-to-head competition to determine who has the ultimate car setup. The basic setup of the competition will be a registered and insured, street vehicles tested in the following categories: Lap times during a 20-minute road-course session; quarter-mile e.t and quarter-mile speed; rear-wheel horsepower measured on a chassis dyno; power-to-weight ratio; emissions; acceleration from 0-60 mph; braking from 80-0 mph; endurance during a drive from Los Angeles to Buttonwillow Raceway, and vehicle cost. Any fuel can be used, but only Castrol oil can be used in all the engines of the cars that are competing.

For folks like us, Ford Mustangs...more specifically Mustangs that were built between the years 1979 and 2009, are the baddest of the bad. Here are some highlights of the entries we've gotten for the competition so far:

Bruce G's 2007 GR40TT: Vortech/Paxton Supercharged with intercooler that puts out 567 hp and its California emissions legal.

John M's 1996 Cobra: A 680 hp beast that John says, "This car can be taken to your brothers wedding on Saturday and then to the drag strip or road course on Sunday."

Nick D's 2003 GT: Puts down 430 supercharged and intercooled horsepower with a clean almost sleeper look.
